The AI-Powered Allergy App

Every app claims AI. Few use it for anything meaningful. Here's exactly what Claude AI does in Anthos every morning — and what that means for how you understand your allergy day.

Why Generic Pollen Scores Are Insufficient

Every allergy app shows you a pollen count. Most translate that count into a colored severity scale: green (low), yellow (moderate), orange (high), red (extreme). Some add a 0-10 index number. This information is true, but it's not useful in the way it could be. A score of 7 out of 10 tells you very little about what you should actually do differently today, whether today's specific allergen profile matters for your specific sensitivities, or what time of day you can safely do outdoor activities.

The gap between "pollen is high" and "here's what today means for you and what to do about it" is exactly what AI fills.

What Claude AI Does in Anthos Every Morning

Each morning, Anthos sends Claude AI the following data for your location: the current pollen count and species breakdown (15 allergens, grains/m³), the AQI and primary pollutant, the weather conditions (temperature, wind speed and direction, humidity, barometric pressure), and the forecast trajectory for the next 24-48 hours.

Claude interprets this data and generates a personalized morning reading — written in plain, human language. Not a score. Not a color code. A reading that tells you what today's conditions mean for someone managing allergies, with a specific action directive for your day. It reads like a message from a knowledgeable friend who has looked at the data on your behalf.

Example AI Readings

EXTREME OAK DAY · DFW · APRIL 14

"A challenging day ahead. Oak pollen is at 847 grains/m³ — more than three times your personal threshold. Light winds this morning mean pollen has settled from yesterday's counts, but temperatures rising through noon will resuspend it. Your safest outdoor window is before 8 AM or after 5 PM when the thermal cycle breaks. Keep windows closed today."

LOW POLLEN DAY · CHICAGO · NOVEMBER 2

"A gentle day. Counts are well below your baseline across all tracked allergens — a good window to spend time outside if you've been waiting. AQI is 34, winds light from the southwest. Enjoy it while it lasts — the forecast shows tree pollen returning next week as alder begins its early season."

The Personalization Layer

After 7+ days of symptom logging, Anthos calculates your personal pollen threshold — the count at which your symptoms typically begin — for your specific allergens. This threshold appears alongside today's count, transforming "oak is at 491 grains/m³" into "oak is at 491 — that's 71% above your personal limit." The AI reading incorporates this threshold into its interpretation, making the advice calibrated to your body rather than the population average.

What AI Does Not Do in Anthos

Anthos's AI does not diagnose conditions, recommend specific medications, tell you what treatment to seek, or make any health claims. Anthos is a wellness app. The AI reads environmental data and your personal allergen sensitivity — it does not process health records, medical history, or any personally identifiable information. No symptom logs or health data are sent to the AI. Privacy is protected by design.

Why This Matters Over Generic Scores

A competitor shows you "Pollen: High." Anthos tells you "Oak is at 491 — your threshold is 287 — your best window is after 4 PM today when winds drop." The second version tells you what to do. That's the difference between data and intelligence. Between a weather report and a plan.
